I have ASP 1.1 up and running on IIS 5.1

Are you using ASP.NET 2.0 application?
Since you dont use IIS 6.0 this error may occur because of version incompatibility rather than application pool problem.

I am using ASP 1.1 not sure if thats what you mean. I am also using VS.NET 2003

I had it working, but I messed with some config files and options so I might have to reinstall.

Whatt do you think? This is all new to me.

If this is a new installation, you may want to turn off "Show friend HTTP error messages" to show a more detailed explanation of what went wrong.
Go to IE > Tools > Advanced tab > Check off the above.

Run aspnet_regiis -i
This problem some times arises because asp.net is not installed.
FIXED!!! Cant remember how though. I did so many things. I guess next time i will take it one step at a time. I did try everyones response so maybe one of you guys helped!
